Whitehall Camp Summer Program Internship

The Program Internship position at Whitehall Camp and Conference Center is designed to equip young adults with a deeper understanding of Christ-centered leadership within a Christian camp environment.  This Internship Program is intended to challenge the interns spiritually, vocationally, and personally while gaining practical work and ministry experiences.  This occurs through behind the scenes work, interactions with campers and guests, and mentoring relationships.

  • Currently active in a church, and has a church background
  • Completed at least 2 years of college or are at least 20 years of age
  • Desire & ability to be in ministry with children, youth and adults in a camp setting
  • Love working directly with children and teenagers

  • Ability to supervise campers and other staff
  • Ability to travel to and from Pennsylvania if not already living in the state; your transportation to PA is not provided by the camp. We are happy to pick you up from the airport, etc. when you arrive. 
  • Able to work outdoors through seasonal weather, including rain and heat
  • Positive reference from 3+ referees (at least 1 pastoral)
  • Previous experience working in a supervisory capacity with children
  • Ability to pass PA and Federal Background checks


Role and Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities will change week-to-week based on the camp schedule.  This intern position includes working with campers and guests, developing and running summer camp programming, assisting in the oversight of counselors, participating in staff activities, and cleaning and kitchen help.  Camp days are long, but rewarding; work weeks are usually 6 days a week.  Camp employment requires flexibility, problem solving, and being willing to contribute in a variety of ways to create a successful camp experience for campers and guests.

  • Participate in orientation as a member of the Summer Missions Team
  • Act as main MC for the camp schedule; keep schedule moving on time, make announcements, keep counselors informed
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to all areas of camp
  • Oversee and lead program staff to effectively execute all activities and games in a high quality manner
  • Oversee and lead program staff to set up, clean up, and properly store game and activity supplies
  • Facilitate camper cabin inspections daily
  • This position will not have a counselor role, but will be expected to engage with children, teens and counselors in a positive way, be engaged at all meals and activities, and be a positive role model for all campers and counselors.
  • Other duties may be required by Program Director or Executive Director



  • Stipend dependent upon skills and experience
